Human Beings are not manageable, and that's great!

Management, as we know it, is dead!

More than just the economy died in 2008. So did the idea of a manageable and compliant workforce - and that is a good thing for your bottom line.

According to Gallup's State of the American Workforce report, nearly 50% of the American workforce were not engaged in the work or company. The reason....

Employees feel that managers do not care for them, and do not know who they are.

When Gallup reviewed the responses from these disengaged staff, they found that a significant number felt totally ignored by their employers and bosses, and others felt that even though it was often negative interaction, at least there was something.

What Gallup really identified was the underlying need for everyone of us to feel that others see us, know us, recognize us, and validate us. In short say “YES!, I am there for you.” Gallup discovered that the new workforce wanted connection and engagement more than any other workforce. Or at least, they are demanding it, when others did not.

When leaders say "YES!, I am there for you", they are increasing the earning potential of the company 22%. That is significant profit for simply making someone feel wanted and known in your organization.

The old models of rigid upward ladders, and seniority advancement and privilege are long gone, and with them are the management styles that kept them in place for so long.

When you say YES!, you are telling the employee, and the customer (because they demand this as well) that you are Accessible to them, Responsive to their needs, and Engaged in who they are. When a person knows this about another person they are in a relationship with, they are more apt to work hard, produce more, and complain less.

One of the fastest ways to turn the attitude of those team members who are disengaged and costing you 22% income, is to engage in them. Acknowledge them and speak with them. Compliment them on something, anything. Let them know you know they exist and that you have seen their work.

To assist leaders shift to this constructive coaching format and learn how to say YES! you are there for them, I have created a special cheat sheet guide that will teach you how to move from a manager, to a leader and find that missing profit.

Remember, the more you say YES! to them, the more they will say YES! to you.

With deepest regards,
Brett
